Unlike those big, impersonal New York City cooking classes, my hands-on classes are intentionally kept small so that everyone has a chance to participate in the making of all the dishes. Classes are hosted in a relaxed, "dinner party" style, which means we'll all work together under my instruction to cook a complete menu that we will then sit down and enjoy together. Sign up with friends, bring a date, or come on your own ready to meet other fun food lovers. Unless otherwise indicated, classes will feature complimentary wine and/or cocktail pairings with non-alcoholic options available, so come ready to learn, cook, mingle, eat, sip, and enjoy!

This one-day workshop will change your cooking life! Beginner's Basics: Easy Dishes for Novice Home Cooks

This beginner's cooking class is especially designed for NYC folks who are just starting to cook at home! Learn to cook a selection of easy dishes suitable for a variety of occasions--from weeknight dinners to entertaining. Each dish will highlight a basic cooking technique, and will include ideas and variations so you can repeat the dish at home in a multitude of different ways. This class is very hands-on and intentionally kept small so as to provide maximum one-on-one time with the instructor. We'll go over cooking terms, discuss ways of prepping and storing ingredients, and all students will be sent home with take-home recipe booklet of all the dishes we prepare in class.

FAQ
Cancellation policy: All tickets are nonrefundable, but they are transferable, meaning you can send someone in your place if you can't attend; no need to notify me in advance. A course voucher for the full cost of your ticket can be issued if notified via e-mail of cancellation prior to 48 hours before class. Cancellations received less than 48 hours are not eligible for refund or voucher credit. Course vouchers can be used toward any other class within 1 year of issue. To schedule a class with a voucher, please e-mail me directly indicating the class you'd like to take. Class space subject to availability.
Attire: There is no dress code, but we do suggest dressing in cool, comfortable clothes appropriate for cooking. Skirts, dresses, and shorts are fine. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes such are strongly recommended as you will be moving and on your feet for much of the class. Flip-flops and heels are discouraged. Please bring something with which to tie back long hair. I will be providing aprons and towels, but remember that spills and splatters are always a possibility. Long flowing sleeves and scarves are discouraged as they can catch flame or fall into the food. (No puffy pirate shirts!)
Class Policies: Classes open to all students, male and female. Students under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Some classes (especially couples cooking classes) are restricted to adults--please contact us first to confirm if you would like to sign up with your child. No alcohol will be served to students younger than 21. Menus listed on this page are tentative menus; some dishes or ingredients may change due to market availability. It is the responsibility of the student to inform teacher of any allergies or dietary restrictions. Please note that we cannot accommodate all dietary restrictions so please review menus and email us with any questions prior to registering. The kitchen spaces are shared-space kitchens so we cannot guarantee that the facilities are peanut or gluten-free. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a class due to instructor illness, low enrollment, inclement weather, or other extenuating circumstances. In rare event of a class cancellation by the instructor, a choice of full refund or credit towards a rescheduled class will be offered.
