Grown-up conversations 💋
We talked about lots of fun Valentine’s Day recipes and date night ideas in the @amazon kitchen! Like my spicy Pasta Arrabiatta. Catch the show streaming on Amazon over the next few days, and get this easy, spicy pasta recipe on the blog!
#setlife but make it Valentine’s! With @makhondlovu, taking advantage of the gorgeous set the @amazon team created for the Valentine’s day show!
Birthday blooms.
Hello, February! This was part of the epic spread I served at my birthday party last year (my bday is Feb 4th-don’t congratulate me, yet!). I haven’t figured out what I want to do this year, because I haven’t been in a particularly festive or social mood since my Hudson passed (and also because it’s been so dang cold!), though looking at these photos has sparked a hint of inspiration. Maybe I’ll rally and pull something together for next weekend...
I think you can tell @carsondaly was a big fan of my Apple Pie French Toast with Almond Milk Caramel! So much fun with him in the @todayshow kitchen this AM. We also made my fave (and vegan!) Almond Croissant Oatmeal. Get the recipes on @todayfood!!
Popping in to let you know that #FoodFactorFiction is back from hiatus tonight! Tune in at 10PM EST on @cookingchannel to watch me tell a thrilling tale about the history of avocados and guacamole!
This weekend we said goodbye to my best buddy and the tiny love of my life, Hudson Riverton. From the moment Eugene & I brought him home six years ago, this little nugget has been my near-constant companion. Losing him has completely broken my heart.

It was usually just the two of us all day long. He’d follow me around the kitchen while I worked on recipes (waiting for treats, of course), snuggled next to me while I wrote (also probably waiting for treats), and always managed to sneak into my photo and video shoots (you know, because there were treats). I even brought him on TODAY Show once, though he spent the entire time with his butt facing the cameras. I can’t get over how quiet and empty it feels without him.
He always seemed to do things differently, which is one of the things I loved most. Unlike most dogs that bounce out of bed ready for food and walks, he loved sleeping in and would gladly snooze all day if we let him.
He hated peanut butter, but loved cucumbers and kale. He didn’t care about most toys, but once fell in love with a parmesan cheese rind he found in the trash and carried it around for weeks. We bought him fancy beds, but always found him asleep on a shoe or a stack of recycling.
He found other dogs (and most humans) completely uninteresting, yet would happily stare at his own reflection or a spot on the wall for hours. He didn’t mind sirens or car horns, but would go completely bonkers anytime someone sneezed.
Whenever I woke up before dawn for TV segments or flights, he would angrily stomp out of our bedroom with a look that seemed to demand an explanation for why I was awake at such an ungodly hour. But then he’d stay and follow me around as I got ready, only returning to bed once I’d left.

The past six months were so difficult, as illness made it harder for him to get around, and he required special accommodations and constant care. I felt physically and emotionally exhausted, always trying to find ways to make life easier for him. But even on the hardest days, I felt thankful for every little moment and every extra snuggle.
I can’t believe he’s gone. I’ll miss my buddy forever.
A skillet full of fluffy buttery biscuits on this good Saturday morning! (Other stuff, too, but it’s really just about the biscuits...)
I tried to post some fave clips from this week’s gig cohosting at Amazon, but they wouldn’t upload (bah!) so instead, you get a mirror selfie in my fave TV outfit! I have so many goals for 2019, but at the very top of my list is booking consistent paid hosting and contributing gigs. I love every opportunity I get to share ideas, tell stories and entertain on camera! It’s seriously such a privilege, and I’m unbelievably grateful for every chance I get to do the thing I love. (Also for excellent jumpsuits!) What’s YOUR number one goal for the year?
The holidays may be over, but the cozy season continues! Chilly nights are the perfect time to enjoy a batch of this fruit and spice-infused punch made with @lipton green tea. Keep a batch in your fridge and warm it up just before serving. It’s the perfect way to end a long winter day. Recipe is on the blog! #sponsored #logramascontucocina
